The Canal des 2 Mers by bike

The Canal des 2 Mers by bike is a cycle route comprising over 750 km of cycle paths, linking the Atlantic to the Mediterranean. A quiet, peaceful itinerary along the Gironde estuary, the Canal de Garonne and the Canal du Midi, taking in the towns of Bordeaux, Créon, Agen, Toulouse, Castelnaudary and many others.

The “Canal des 2 Mers by bike” links up with the Vélodyssée and passes through Royan on its way to Blaye and Bordeaux. The route then follows the Canal de Garonne to Toulouse, before continuing along the Canal du Midi to Sète. The Canal des 2 Mers by bike is signposted for 97% of the route.

A wide variety of landscapes, including the Gironde estuary, the Médoc vineyards, Bordeaux-Métropole, Entre-Deux-Mers, and the start of the Canal de Garonne, make this an exceptional cycling destination.

The Canal des 2 Mers by bike passes through Bordeaux, the wine capital of the world! Take advantage of the opportunity to discover the incredible “Cité du Vin” and its restaurant with panoramic views over the city, and taste the wines of the region (Médoc, Sauternes, Saint-Émilion, Pomerol...).

As for gastronomy, along the way you can sample cannelé in Bordeaux, or savor cassoulet in Castelnaudary or Toulouse.

We offer several types of bike trips along the Canal du Midi, the Canal de Garonne, and the Canal des 2 Mers, covering either all or part of these iconic cycle paths. You can choose a stage or combine different sections, as well as the duration (long weekend, week, or more), to explore these scenic routes specially designed for cycle touring!
