At our agency, we believe that every great adventure starts with a spark of inspiration. This time, that spark came from Adrien, our passionate colleague and seasoned cyclist. Recently, Adrien set off on a journey to the heart of Champagne, meticulously scouting routes, savoring local delicacies, and immersing himself in the region’s culture to design our newest adventure: Bike Tour: Bubbles and Cycling through Champagne.
Adrien’s exploration began in Reims, a city renowned for its rich history and iconic Gothic cathedral, Notre-Dame de Reims. Known as the “City of Coronations,” Reims offers a perfect blend of medieval grandeur and 1920s Art Deco charm. Adrien was captivated by the vibrant streets and historical atmosphere, making it the ideal starting point for our Champagne trip.
Leaving Reims, the trip heads into the Montagne de Reims Regional Nature Park. Adrien followed forested trails through Verzy, home to the mysterious twisted beech trees, and enjoyed a unique stop at Perchingbar, a Champagne bar perched high among the treetops. Winding through charming villages like Fontaine-sur-Ay and Avenay-Val-d'Or, the day ends in Mutigny, where vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see, offering a serene and scenic resting spot.
This stage showcases the beauty of the Marne Valley, where Adrien cycled along the Marne River, passing through quaint villages like Cumières and Damery. He admired the stunning Château de Boursault and took in the breathtaking views of endless vineyards. The route winds back to Mutigny via the famed Avenue de Champagne in Épernay, giving travelers a chance to immerse himself in the rich winemaking heritage of the region.
Adrien's final leg led him through Hautvillers, considered the birthplace of Champagne. Nestled in the Montagne de Reims, this hilltop village offers panoramic views over the vineyards. From Hautvillers, the route descends into Chamery, Écueil, and Sacy before returning triumphantly to Reims, where cyclists can celebrate their journey at the foot of the majestic cathedral.
After days of cycling through forests, vineyards, and historic villages, Adrien’s adventure concluded back in Reims. His time spent scouting this route has helped us create a bike tour that goes beyond scenic beauty—it’s a cultural and sensory immersion into the heart of Champagne.
This bike tour in Champagne offers an unforgettable blend of culture, history, and stunning landscapes.
