This year, Manon had the opportunity to explore Provence by bike—a memorable trip blending nature, history, and gastronomy. She visited iconic sites while basking in the region’s charm. If you are also considering a bike trip to this beautiful area, follow along with Manon’s cycling journey through Provence!

Day 1: Arrival in Arles

The adventure began in Arles, a city rich in history and character. I wandered through ancient streets and admired its famous monuments, like the Roman amphitheater and antique theater. Strolling through the historic center, I discovered the unique artistic vibe of this city, once home to painter Van Gogh. That evening, I enjoyed a delicious Provençal dinner at a local restaurant, savoring the regional flavors.

Day 2: Arles to Les Baux-de-Provence

The next day, I headed towards Les Baux-de-Provence, one of France’s most beautiful villages. The 21 km ride offered stunning views of the landscape, with paths winding through the heart of Provence’s natural scenery. Upon arrival, I explored this hilltop village and its medieval castle ruins with breathtaking views. A visit to the Carrières de Lumières, an immersive art experience, was a highlight of the day.

Day 3: Les Baux-de-Provence to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence

On day three, I rode to Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, a charming village nestled at the foot of the Alpilles. This 27 km journey was a picturesque ride through olive groves and classic southern French landscapes. In Saint-Rémy, I visited the ancient ruins of Glanum, a fascinating Roman archaeological site, and enjoyed the colorful local market, sampling regional delights like tapenade and olives—a true Provençal treat.

Day 4: Saint-Rémy-de-Provence to Graveson

On day four, I cycled to Graveson, a peaceful village that embodies Provence’s authentic charm. This 25 km route allowed me to take in more beautiful countryside scenery, lavender fields, and winding rural roads. In Graveson, I experienced a tranquil side of Provençal life and capped off the day with a delightful dinner in a picturesque setting.

Day 5: Leaving Provence

After four days of discovery, it was time to leave. This cycling trip allowed me to see Provence from a fresh perspective, breathing in the clean air and marveling at the stunning scenery. I left with a heart full of memories and countless new impressions of the region.
