The Mont-Saint-Michel is an incredible part of the French historical and cultural heritage! In the middle of a huge bay and invaded by the highest tides in Europe, it is a place full of timeless history that attracts many pilgrims. Since 1979, the Mont-Saint-Michel is classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site and welcomes more than 2.5 million visitors per year. A place not to be missed!
Built in the 8th century, this great spiritual and intellectual center was one of the most important places of pilgrimage in the medieval West. For a thousand years, men, women and children went there along roads called "roads to paradise", hoping for the assurance of eternity, given by the Archangel of Judgment. You can visit the abbey church, founded on a set of crypts at the top of the rock, topped by the dazzling Archangel Saint Michael at the top of the church.
A village has developed on the south-east side of the rock surrounded by walls dating mostly from the Hundred Years War. Discover this jewel of French heritage during your cycling vacations! Visit the narrow streets of this emblematic place and visit the famous Mère Poulard's inn, a place famous for its omelette cooked on wood fire!
The bay of Mont-Saint-Michel can now be approached with your feet in the water, by bike and on horseback! A unique experience during which you can admire an incredible spectacle of tides!
